For those that have been injured and have been released from physical therapy, the chances of re-injury can be greater. Post rehab fitness is more effective if a person trains in a controlled environment for functional/practical use before trying to jump right back to sport. Here are a few tips to consider:
- Know why and how your got injured in the first place. Not just the act that injured you but your condition, stress, expertise level, and risk assessment.
- If you were prescribed exercises by your therapist do them and tell your personal trainer about the exercises.
- Seek professional help if you are unsure if you are doing and exercise properly.
- Do not be scared to get back into fitness. Muscle guarding and fear can make you second guess what feel natural.
The best thing you can do is keep moving and build a support group that can help you get back to 100%.
