I am the founder of California Pilates, LLC and a comprehensively trained Pilates instructor who has been in the fitness industry for over 15 years. Fitness has always been present in my life whether in the form of dance, gymnastics or running. I guess you can say my parent’s hardwired me for fitness.

I took my strength, balance and endurance capabilities for granted. Despite staying active during my pregnancy I felt so de-conditioned after. It took me nearly 4 years of trial, effort and research to feel strong and functional again. I spent tons of money seeking out expert advice, manual therapists, and women’s health therapists to figure out why I was having hip pain. I discovered author and world renowned Physiotherapist Diane Lee. Her books, courses and mentorship gave me the road map to recovery. I rid myself of hip pain, urinary urgency, stress urinary incontinence, postpartum depression, hormonal imbalances and pain during sex. I stopped focusing on my dress size, identified my depression triggers and turned my attention to healing, finding balance in my life and happiness. You’ve heard this story time and time again.

Women have children, focus solely on mothering, gain weight, stop wanting to have sex, basically, give up and let themselves go. You look in the mirror and hardly recognize your body and your S.O. looses interest because you are less confident, always tired, overwhelmed, slightly bitchy and full of emotions. You both are privately thinking “I didn’t sign up for this!” Living through the transition into parenthood is hard if the bond between partners is weak.
Regardless of any underlying relationship issues physical fitness makes all of the above easier to handle. Fitness improves body image thus self worth, gives us more energy, releases happy hormones and fosters visual attractiveness. Couples fitness is also great for bonding and building trust, a precursor to rebuilding your sexual intimacy.

If you don’t have health you have nothing.

You are the cornerstone of your family: income winner, nurturer, chef, chauffeur, tutor, Dr. Mom, therapist, mentor, playmate, project manager, accountant, event planner, safety officer and more. You work 24/7/365!  You have to carry groceries up 3 flights of stairs while holding a child… in a hurricane (that goes by your child’s name) no less. Daily, you prepare 3 meals, multiple snacks, change hundreds of diapers and wet beds, wash countless laundry loads, clean the house, fight for nap time, and SO MUCH MORE.
Without your health, this is entirely overwhelming if not impossible.
Maintaining sanity in all the chaos is absolutely possible but there’s no fairy dust to make it magically happen. It takes work, consistency, strategy, and most importantly, guidance from someone who really knows what she’s doing and living the life.

Our understanding of Women’s health has dramatically improved

Our knowledge of women’s health has leapt forward in just the past 10 years. Numerous recent studies provide insight on previously unknown and misunderstood affects of pregnancy and childbirth. Women are taking control of their bodies by demanding more information about what they go through physically and mentally and by being open to discussing and sharing their stories.
Diane Lee and Linda Joy Lee authors of The Pelvic Girdle have contributed greatly to developing assessment tools for training women back to form and function. These women have shown the relationship between the pelvic girdle and thorax, and how any dysfunction there causes complications in other parts of the body.
Their research, along with many others, prove how critical it is for postnatal women to understand their body changes having just experienced a traumatic pelvic event.
It is IMPERATIVE the advice you get is current and applicable to your specific situation and conditionOnly a few years ago, when flip-phones were cool, you delivered your baby had a quick check up after, waited 6 weeks and you are good to go. HOW WRONG WE WERE (about both the flip-phone and post-natal treatment)!

Don’t blame your doctor or fitness coach. They’re typically not aware of Diastasis Recti

OB/GYN’s almost never check, realize the need to check you for Diastasis Recti or really fall short knowing how to remedy it let alone how long recovery takes, body changes during/after delivery, and especially, being able to recommend a workout plan specifically for you. Unless you complain about pain or have a visible prolapse, most just send you on your way. Little attention is paid to the function of the other systems affected by pregnancy. Women are not just a vulva – the body is an orchestra of amazing parts!
You are left to find your own answers, in fact, it’s encouraged. I encourage it for other reasons, it’s likely why you are here. Making strides toward fitness is more about consistency in diet, exercise and well being and less about type, that is, there is more and more acceptance of what is currently “non-traditional” as it gradually is becoming the new norm.
Not every fitness “expert” knows or can tell you if you do not properly reconnect to your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles you likely won’t regain complete function. It’s up to you make sure the expert you choose KNOWS HER STUFF, that she’s overcome the obstacles you’re facing and she knows how to help you efficiently and effectively.
Lencola is absolutely wonderful! She was very knowledgeable & easy to talk to. I’m sure all of us have experienced changes in our bodies since giving birth & Lencola was able to address the “sensitive” issues while still making me feel comfortable.
She explained everything in such a way that was easy for me to understand, she even had a scale model pelvis to make clear what she was discussing. I left the session with a lot more knowledge than I came in with and she gave me exercises I can easily do at home.
The session was an hour long, basically a free personal training session with someone who specializes in post-natal care. I highly, Highly, HIGHLY recommend signing up for a session with her if you haven’t done so yet. She literally changed the way I will be working out. So fantastic!

   TAKING ADVICE FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVEN’T LIVED IT

You’ve had your baby and you’re looking to get back to awesome

Truth time: Most fitness experts receive little or no postnatal fitness training. Nor do they stay current with the latest research.
Surprisingly, disproven methods are still recommended: You’ll be advised to drastically change your lifestyle, to do abdominal work until you drop, buy costly training packages, supplement your diet and so on. When you are not seeing results, they will suggest it is because YOU are doing something wrong. And they would be half right, though misdiagnosed your condition or knew little about correcting it, you should have discussed their qualifications before signing on with them. But you and I can remedy the latter!
The old method might seem practical but let’s be logical – the single hour you spend with a trainer does not address your other 23 hours each day.
They may not know as a new mom you should NEVER do traditional abdominal work or that kids are expensive so buying endless training packages is crazy talk. As a breast feeding mom you need to be cautious of supplements since they pass into your milk. You don’t have time to fight for a training appointment or find and pay a sitter. You want strategies for you on your schedule.

   CHANGING YOURSELF TO FIT SOMEONE ELSE’S IDEAL

    RELYING ON BLOG POSTS AND SOCIAL MEDIA

Free advice is…

…great for recipes, staying social or finding new exercises when you need a refresher, but is never sufficiently comprehensive for sophisticated health issues such as your recovery. You rarely get full exercise descriptions or why new moms should avoid exerting more effort than it takes to lift their baby. (Surely, Mother Nature had a reason for this.) Videos cannot answer personal questions or evaluate your grocery list.
But, you do get what you pay for!
Having someone in your corner guiding you through your new healthy habit forming process is priceless.
Recovering from pregnancy is like building a house – you need expert guidance, from creating a solid foundation all the way to sealing the roof.
Comprehensive, tailored strategies simply aren’t available, let alone given away, in free webinars or blogs. If you’re serious about going all the way with your fitness lifestyle, you have to have plan everything from daily logistics to reframed mindset. I get it. I've been where you are.

(Yup, after having my daughter I was depressed, staring in the mirror dreaming about how my body use to look and how wonderful it would feel to not be tired all the time.)

Here’s thing, I did not know I was depressed since there were many moments of great happiness. Like many I thought depression meant crying or being sad all the time but in the thick of it I could barely get out of bed or leave the house. I did not know how or want to handle my new life. Like my newborn baby I was being reborn and creating a new identity. Thankfully California has paid maternity and family leave, so that gave me six months to figure things out.

I was in a new city, with a new boyfriend, new home, new baby, new job and lots of grief from my daughters’ absent biological father. Of course I had to march on and be a happy, loving and nurturing mother no matter how I felt on the inside. No one around me knew I was depressed and I chocked most of it up to the stresses of motherhood. I know better now.

After studying, testing, mentoring and perfecting, I am finally bringing my hard work to the world. My clients now see their bodies in new and rewarding ways and enjoy fitness more than ever, some for the very first time.

“How do you stay fit while having a kid?” required some soul searching to answer. The program needed to address post-natal fitness, family nutrition, relationships, self esteem, depression, parenting, beauty and time management to work. I created then offered the classes as workshops with free assessments – all had low turnout. I learned from those in my classes the material was solid. I underestimated their time constraints and overwhelming burdens of motherhood.
“How can I bring the material to mothers?” The course had to be workable as much on their schedule as possible. It had to be accessible to any mother who needed this training. The more I reach, the more affordable it can be.

A SAD TRUTH I HAD LONG SUSPECTED… MOST PEOPLE DO NOT SEEK HELP UNTIL THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE IS AFFECTED. 

Many just accept that they will never run or jump again for fear of wetting themselves. Women accept that they will never fit into most of their clothing again and that because they have a child they do not have time to be intimate with their SO. This is why I moved to focusing on post-natal recovery in order to prevent future injury. Giving women the road map that they have been asking of me feels right.
The typical misconception women have of me is I was born with great genes and I don’t have to work at staying fit. I assure you all trainers work hard to get and maintain their results. The only difference is that fitness, health and well-being are built into our core values.
Creating a fitness mindset and a healthy balance is what keeps me on track. I eat cake, potato chips, burritos, and pizza just like everyone else, not everyday, but I do indulge at times. I do not go to the gym everyday for fitness and I rest when my body says rest.  I choose playing like a kid at the playground, walking or rock climbing for activity over the gym 90% of the time.  
As for all that good posture everyone talks about, there is a reason why trainers do it. Having good alignment keeps muscles balanced, keeps pain away, improves performance, promote digestion, gives the heart and lungs space to function, and promotes self confidence.

    I don't have a gym membership. Will this program work for me?

    YES. You do not need a gym membership. The program is designed do from the comfort of your own home and helps you find an appropriate fitness type. This does not mean you need to avoid a gym if one is available. 
    We can help you start your post-natal recovery the right way! You’ll get all of the information you need to organize your fitness lifestyle, build a strong foundation and wisely nurture your health .

    I just had my baby less than 6 weeks ago. Will this program work for me?

    YES, as long as you are cleared by your physician and feel up to partaking in activities. The program starts with nutrition, mindset and organizing your priorities since eating healthy is the foundation of  a sustainable fitness lifestyle.
    The first 4 weeks are gentle core connecting, postural awareness and breathing techniques, perfect for those who recently gave birth. 

    I had a surgical mesh abdominal repair. Will this program work for me?

    Yes. It is very important to connect with your core after surgery because your muscles were probably weak or disconnected before surgery.

    I had a cesarean. Will this program work for me?

    Yes! Just like a for surgical mesh, it’s important to get back your proper muscle function.

    I am traveling, getting married, and/or busy during the holidays at some point during this program, will it work for me?

    Yes. The program is designed to be done from anywhere where you have internet access and a computer or mobile phone.

    All my children are grown-up, will this program be of benefit?

    Yes, of course! It is designed for mothers of any age. If you have never reconnected your core/abdomen after giving birth, then you are long overdue.

    I have diastasis recti, can I still participate in the program?

    Yes. You can still participate, depending on the severity of the muscle separation. We’ll do the tummy check we had you do during the webinar series, if the separation is too large (two fingers wide, two knuckles deep and you can feel a pulse below your muscles) then you need to see a doctor and should not participate in the program until your muscles have started to heal.

    You mentioned relationship tips. What does that have to do with fitness?

    We take a more holistic approach to healthy and fit lifestyle which includes relationships since they are are integral to our well-being. 

    How fast will I see progress?

    Depending on what you are working on and doing, you could see results in a few days, like with diet changes. While it only takes a few minutes to learn core correcting exercises, it can take hundreds of workouts to get your core to connect, but it will happen almost automatically.

    Beyond the program, what additional investments might I need/want to make?

    This largely depends on you and your needs. The program is designed to be done at home but you might get more motivation or prefer working out at a gym, for example. All the apps required in the program are free, but most charge to upgrade to premium content or to subscribe.

    How is this program different from other programs?

    Firstly, The Unstoppable Mom Lifestyle program covers material and answers deeply personal questions typically not addressed in other programs. UML is live (real-time), instructor facilitated and designed to help you individualize your fitness solution throughout the entire process. It is not one-size fits all.

    What is your refund policy?

    We want people who can commit to the entire program. We put enormous amounts of research, effort and personalized support into you and the program. For these reasons, we do NOT offer refunds.     What is included in the course material?

    You will participate in webinars and group calls, these  sessions will be recorded for future reference. We will have additional videos. Downloadable materials like checklists, tip sheets, journals and research. You will get live coaching calls and in-person training (Elite access program.)

    How is the course delivered?

    You will have you own login to access all program materials and our secret Facebook group. Notifications are emailed. The program will be via webinar. Calls are via internet, Skype or phone. Webinars will be recorded and archived for future reference. 

    When are you going to have the live calls?

    We will have 18 live calls spread over the program duration to be scheduled with input from the group.

    When does the program start?

    Thursday, September 8, 2016. There are three preview webinars Tuesdays, August 16, 23 and 30. Sign up early or during one of the previews for discount pricing and early bird material.

    I've looked at other online post-natal programs how is this one different?

    We are based on the most current post-natal pelvic girdle research. We are comprehensive and designed to help you find the best fitness methods and lifestyles for you. You are embarking on a lifestyle change, it’s a process and we will be with you for the duration… and beyond. We are not one size fits all.

    Will this program help me convince my family to eat healthy foods?

    We hope so, but we don’t know their motivations or needs. But by you signing up for the Unstoppable Mom Lifestyle program, we know YOU are motivated to make healthy lifestyle changes. We will provide you tips and techniques to involve and get support from your family and ultimately get them to embrace a healthy lifestyle.

    I am very busy with my job, kid and spouse. How much time will I need for the program?

    The program is designed to be integrated into your daily life. There will be some initial additional time for the webinars and calls, you’ll have a few minutes of homework/journal recording each day, we expect this to take an additional 15 to 30 minutes a day. Soon, this will be seamlessly be part of  your daily life.
